President's Note :

I take this opportunity on behalf of the organization to share with your Annual activities Report for the session 2007-2008, its milestone in terms of its success and achievements. This year was indeed altogether a different year for us where lots of initiatives were undertaken to make our efforts successful. It is ever changing for our organization with limited resources to address vast area of health, disability, governance, HIV/AIDS, livelihood, creating mass awareness, child issues, grassroots level issues, commendable jobs in order to archive the cherished goal significantly. The details of all these meaningful programmes are documented in this annual report.

In our Endeavour and efforts to achieve the cherished goal, we sincerely thankful to the supporting agencies who support us relentlessly without whom, we could not move forward. I am thankful to our community, who constantly stand with us in each and every spheres of implementation. Our staffs, who have given their time, energy, efforts, dedication and cooperation in achieving al the works in fulfilling our dreams.

        I sincerely thank to the Governing Board of Trustees, advisors and well wishers and every single individual who are associated for their regular feedback, guideline and suggestions for strengthening MAMATA CHARITABLE TRUST.

Introduction :

MAMATA LCHARITABLE TRUST is a charitable development organization initiated during the year 2005 by a group of young people who wanted to do some social good for the poor and disadvantaged in their won locality. Now its registered office is at 279-DC, BDA Colony, Chanderasekherpur, Bhubaneswar, Dist: Khurda (Orissa)

Our Vision :

MAMATA LCHARITABLE TRUST envisions a society full of joy and vivacity where the poorest of the poor will be assured of the bare necessacities for survival and a society without any discrimination on ground of caste, class, race religion or religion for strengthening of democracy and advancement of Humanity.

Our Mission :

To work for the empowerment of the community so that the people can take care of themselves without waiting for outside intervention and can demand their rights, which are due to them.

Approach :

The organization believes in the development model of social development where the beneficiaries are treated as the integral part and parcel of the organization around which the whole development process revolves as opposed to the charity model in which the beneficiaries are treated as mere recipient of charities and aids.

Major Activities :

Rural development health & sanitation. Training & education, awareness generation, rehabilitation of special need group programmes of social defend, environment protection & Allied programmes.

Objectives :

To translate our goal into really certain objective has been set up MAMATA CHARITABLE TRUT and maximum efforts have been taken to translate objective into reality. The main objective of the organization are to give free and compulsory education to the children bellow fourteen years provide assistance to the weaker section especially the disadvantages orphans disabled women children marginal & Small labor work of water & sanitation in the rural areas SCs STs to carry out developmental activities in socio-economic education and agricultural fields for the welfare of the society.

To undertake all such activities that would promote charges and transformation in the society in the area related to health, Environment, Education, Culture and social economic reforms for sustainable uncountable development.

To develop a society for conducting programmes of welfare and development of commons with emphasis on socially deprived categories including SC, ST, OBC, Women, Children Aged & Handicapped.

To take up projects/programmes on research, publication & documentation on welfare & development.

To take up programmes on rule development health & sanitation. Training & education, awareness generation, rehabilitation of special need group programmes of social defend, environment protection & Allied programmes.

To Establish and run training and educational institution, homes for children, women and aged, health care units, dedication centers documentation units & such other centre/units for welfare & Development.

To take up programmes of entrepreneurship development, SHGs, Socio-economic programmers, khadi & Village Industry & other production and marketing activities in collaboration with financing institutions for the benefit of poor especially women, SC, ST & Physically handicapped.

To take up the programmes of welfare and development in collaboration with individuals and agencies of local national & International Level.

To organize programmes to, culture, handicrafts, health, environment, panchayat Raj, Youth & Sports & encourage people’s participation in all spheres of welfare and development.

To establish and operate library, study centre and information centre in rural area and also legal aid centre for poor and needy people.

To take up such other programmes/projects as may be decided by the Executive Body from time to time.

Culture, Women Empowerment, awareness Campaign, Rural Development, Environment, Vocational Training, Child Development, Rural Sports, Education, Youth Development, Health, Research and Studies, Micro-finance, Good Governance and SHG Promotion.

ACTION & ACHIEVEMTNTS DURING THE YEAR :

Community Health :

Organising training for eligible couple between age group 18-35 and educate them on causes of IMR, MMR to take care of child immunization, education and nutrition. Organising health camps on health care and sanitation, creating cultural programmes to spread mass awareness. Encouraging herbal practitioners to improve upon their profession. Immunization awareness programme among the women members of all the program villages of 5 operational areas so as to make them feel the importance of various immunization doses. Food Security:

AIDS Awareness Camp :

After having a survey in particular area about 1200 women commercial sex workers have been identifies. The studies were made counselling were made to the women CSW to returned back to them main stream of development. Three women groups ( SHG ) have been promoted and savings and credit is going on. These CSW’s are not able to avail Govt facilities and there is every fear of HIV/AIDS. There fore two awareness campaign were organized and it was observed that some that some impact is there.

Forest and Environment :

We have formationed VPFC ( Village Forest Protection Committee ) in two districts. The members are selected both men & women with equal proportion to be the members of VFPC where women are gradually acquiring a decisive role in these committees. Creating awareness through cultural programme, walling on role of VFPC and forest rights and generating awareness in all the operational districts. Mother & Child Health Care:

Mother & Child Health Care :

Mother & Child health care is an important aspect of health programme. Mothers were trained on antenatal care and postnatal care. Besides, they were educated with immunisation, nutritions of child and care of pregnant women. The importance of breast feeding was also understood. About 25% women have changed their attitude. The mother in laws were counselled and asked to take care of the pregnant women and their food practice. Gradually the women are removing the social taboo and traditional practices.

Rural Clinic :

About 1600 families have been benefited from this mobile clinic. Our doctor Mamata Mohanty are constantly in touch with the people and availing the health services. The diarrhoea death has been checked successful and about 150 families have learnt preparing ORS. The traditional belief is going away. Instead of worshipping God during any casualty in health hazards, people have started consulting doctor and are taking medicine prescribed by doctor.

Reproductive Child Health Training :

Mamata Charitable Trust has organized a Reproductive child Health Training Programme by Doctor Mamata Mohanty at its office on 14th and 15th December 2007. This training was for community women to be aware of their health and nutrition issues, mainly physical and psychological care, precautions in pre maturity period. Care for new born child and care of mother.

The training camp was attended by 25 women from different communities. Some other important issues discussed were Immunization. Family Planning, health and nutrition of child and mother, health related government schemes and programes.

Emergency Medical Support :

The emergency medical support has been immensely useful for the poor community this has been a life saving emergency support to the poor community at the time of need .Free medicines were distributed during the last year to the needy and poor people. Besides this support has been used for treatment of many critical diseases to the mother and children.

Family Welfare Camp :

If we look in to the present stage of the life and within the family we came to that they are facing many types of family problem for this purpose to look in to the matter the organization has started up family welfare camp kith active co-operation of the youth group of this village copper-T was given two women contraceptives were distributed among the women desiring to plan birth the programme was successful.

Life Skill Education :

In the tender age we have seen all the girl are making mistakes which are becoming a problem which cannot be solved so for the development and empowerment of the adolescent girls we have started up skilled development programme the aim after this is to keep the adolescent girls away from the problems faced by them in the day to day life.

Rehabilitation for the Children :

The people of the rural area are facing many sorts of problem due to poverty and for that reason their children are also suffering the children are doing works in different fields for the bread and butter they are not getting education due to low financial condition we can see that that children are educated we cannot get a bright future of our country.

Celebration of National Days :

The different programmes celebrated by the organization as national days were Utkal Dibsa, Labour Days, World population Days, International peace day. Gandhi jayanti, Anti-Poverty Day, Children’s Day, Human Rights Day, Krisan Day, NrtajiJayanti, Republic Day, Tobacco Prevention day, Aged Care day, World Disability Day etc. The organization on every year organizes debate and quiz competition among the students on national days to increase their knowledge.

Plantation :

Plantation is very much essential now a day due to pollution. Plantation is one of the priorities of the organization. The organization has risen up a nursery in Bhubaneswar, For this nursery the organization distributed 250 seedlings to the village of khurda block.

Sports Activities :

Unlike each year this year our organization arranged different sports competition. This year we have taken up various tournaments. There was a high interest of the youths and to create more capability among them we have distributed prizes. The main aim is to find out talent among them and create scope for them.

Acknowledgement :

The Basic activity of Mamata Charitable Trust is to reach the unreached. The organization is thankful to the staffs who have dedicated their time and effort to success the programme. Lastly the organization will like to convey is gratitude to Dr.Mamata Mohanty who worked hard with our staff.
